The patented eGeeTouch Smartlock deploys proprietary advanced NFC-driven proximity access-gaining technology as the PRIMARY access method which is superior for (1) higher security, (2) faster connection speed, & (3) negligible power consumption in comparison to other Bluetooth-driven locks.

Particularly, (i) NFC is secured close-proximity access eradicating concerns over any unwanted vicinity interception or hijacking Over-The-Air (OTA) transmissions. (ii) NFC connection is instantaneous (<1sec) while Bluetooth connection requires initialization time that typically takes several seconds which could be rather annoying when experienced daily. (iii) NFC-paired devices such as smartphone requires negligible power as compared to Bluetooth. And, NFC Tags are passive devices which do not need their own power source to operate.

Fingerprint biometric data is another convenient means to personal access security. However, this type of data is basically unable to change because it is encoded in a person biology. Once fingerprint information is lost, leak or stolen, it cannot be retrieved and thus open to PERMANENT ABUSE. Instead, a person can always rethink another Bluetooth password or NFC code, but he/she usually cannot change their fingerprint patterns. Thus, individuals who lost fingerprints is likely to be affected for the rest of their lives.

However, Bluetooth is also provided here as SECONDARY access choice and VICINITY TRACKING^® to both Android & iOS smartphones owners to accommodate users who prioritise convenience over high security in view of individual preference and personal circumstances.

Unlike many conventional combination digit-wheel dial locks that can be cracked in seconds, eGeeTouch^® NFC+Bluetooth smart luggage locks are preprogramed with patented algorithm having 6-alphanumeric codes containing over many millions of IDs. The preprogramed ID is further encrypted to enhance proximity access NFC security. A proprietary communication protocol is further deployed for multiple security layers preventing unauthorized attempts to extract stored information. User defined unlocking IDs can be conveniently set by authorized lock's owner and securely stored on your Android &/or iOS smartphone or tablet using eGeeTouch App, or PC without the need to remember codes. eGeeTouch^® Smart Luggage Lock tracks and prevent missing luggage (an optional feature) utilizing GSM, NFC and Bluetooth technologies.

In fact, most of current commercial GPS technologies are unable to reliably detect an object/item when it is located inside a building or stored in a metal shielded container/truck/aeroplane. For example, satellite signal of automotive GPS navigation system usually fails to indicate direction whenever the car is inside a tunnel. However, since mobile phone's GSM's 4G signal has wide coverage and extend inside most buildings and underground transports, eGeeTouch smart lock utilises GSM and/or WIFI via smart phones to precisely track luggage locations with greater convenience.

The batteries are expected to last for over 3,000 to 20,000 times turning ON/OFF or over 3 to 5 years of battery life (depends on model), based on 3 to 10 times locking/unlocking per day usage. Typical ON time for eGeeTouch^® luggage lock is less than 10 seconds and it turns itself OFF automatically, hence consuming little/no battery power thereafter. Despite it is able to repeatedly notify you when battery run low via your smartphone or blinking LED of the smartlock, when ultimately the batteries run out, you still have the following options:

1. Use a standard external USB mobile power source (e.g. your Laptop PC or USB power bank) to power all models of eGeeTouch^® smart lock via the USB terminal provided, and then proceeds with unlocking as usual.

No…. Most airlines or airport operators refuse/forbid to let luggage owner putting sizeable rechargeable battery (e.g. Lithium battery power pack of >100Wh) into a luggage during check-in as it may risk of overheating and cause fire hazards. Your existing passwords/IDs and/or settings are encrypted and stored in the memory of the smart lock even in the absence of power supply. Once the depleted batteries have been replaced with new ones or external USB power source is inserted at the USB connector, your smart lock should work as per normal.

On Bluetooth mode, any leading-brands APPLE iOS and Android OS smartphones such as Samsung, Sony, Huawei etc. are compatible for use in eGeeTouch^® Smart locks.

On NFC mode, eGeeTouch^® Smart lock is compatible most NFC Android Smartphones running Android 4.4 or above and also leading brand NFC-enabled Sport bands. To date, the eGeeTouch NFC-Smart lock has been tested on Samsung, SONY, Huawei, HTC, Fitbit Sport band Charge & Charge-HR etc.

On using Android smartphone NFC mode, user is required to locate the sensitive area of smartphone's NFC antenna at the back-side of these Smartphones simly by placing the Smartphone as closely as possible (touching) to the receptor area ('Tap Here' mark) of smartlock.

You have several options: (i) you may simply reload your eGeeTouch^® App to reassign a new passcode on your new phone, tag or smart devices. Then, use the App to disable or delete your old ID resides in the eGeeTouch^® lock which was previously paired with your lost phone, (ii) use your eGeeTouch^® tag/fob/card to unlock. If you lost your tag, then simply purchase a new tag, pair it with your smartphone.

These multiple options of regaining secured access of your smart locks eliminate stressful concerns over any future unintended access from the lost smartphone/tag. Never worry about changing your lock cylinder or entire mechanical lock anymore!

The physical structure and mechanical parts construction of eGeeTouch^® lock are comparable or as rugged as typical conventional digit-dial/keyed lock. For more info on Tests & Certifications Click here.. However, the incredibly ease-of-use and highest security code features are unmatched by conventional locks. In fact, luggage lock is basically meant for preventing thefts/burglars rather than robbers. Any attempt to use excessive/destructive force for opening a lock would likely to damage the lock regardless its types. Further, even conventional padlocks can be easily vandalized simply by putting glue or insert a wood stick into the keyhole to prevent key from inserting!

eGeeTouch^® smart padlock has no mechanical key hole, hence it is not subject to the vulnerabilities associated with lock-picking or key bumping!

eGeeTouch^® patented battery compartment safety and security mechanism prevent users gaining access to batteries when it is at lock state. Only authorised person who can unlock the device is able to open the battery compartment for changing batteries. If batteries run out, please read Q6.

Yes… however, once zippers or lock are tempered (e.g. break-in/burglary/robbery), the damage provide visible tempering evidence/proofs allowing luggage owner to seek insurance claims/damages from transport/airport operator. In contrast, stealing or thief achieved by cracking a combination/key lock provides no physical tempering evidence of stolen contents, hence luggage owner is unable to raise a case for seeking damages.

Alternatively, for satisfying your higher security needs, you may get Zipperless type of heavy-duty (metal casing) luggage built with eGeeTouch^® smart lock instead.

Depending on model. YES... eGeeTouch^® IP45 Smart Padlock is WEATHERPROOF. It can operate under snow, heat, rain and RUST resistent (sea) environment.

NO... eGeeTouch^® smart luggage locks are water resistance which essentially means withstanding a slashing water or a few minutes of rain. Its electronic board is coated with a layer of water resistance material. Likewise to most electronic products, when prolonged splashing with or submerging into water, the batteries drain out quickly. Simply ensure the lock is completely dry and then install new batteries to regain its function. The quality and reliability of eGeeTouch^® smart luggage lock is subjected to and survive over repeated drop test for a height of 1.5 meter at various fall angles and floor materials. Sustained tests for jerk, tumbling, temperature swing and water resistance are performed in factory according to ISO9001 and ISO14001 standards. Our smart locks pass FCC and CE conducted by TUV SUD, a world-leading 3rd party accredited independent test provider.

Each eGeeTouch® smart lock can support a maximum of up to 20 NFC tags/fobs and NFC-enabled smart devices, such as smartphones and sport bands, with the free app. For the commercial app, the limit increases to up to 500 NFC tags.
